Bent Elements

GFRP bent elements are structural components made from glass fibers and a polymer resin matrix, custom-made with specific bends, angles or curves to suit different construction and infrastructure applications. They are the third product family at 7Star GFRP, next to GFRP rebar and GFRP mesh. Straight bars can’t form stirrups, corners or hooks, and bent elements fill that gap. They give the same corrosion-free, lightweight, non-conductive reinforcement in shapes that straight bars can’t provide.

Typical Uses

  • Stirrups and ties: shear reinforcement for beams and columns.
  • Corners and L-shaped pieces: reinforcement at wall, slab and footing junctions.
  • Connections: custom shapes tied to the project drawings.

    Key Engineering Points

    • Factory-made only: a finished GFRP bar can’t be bent on site, so every bend is manufactured to order from the project plan.
    • Design by an engineer: bend geometry, bar behavior at the bend and anchorage details must be set by a licensed structural engineer under the applicable code.
    • Brittle behavior: GFRP has no yield point, so the design must account for that, especially at bends.
    • Plan ahead: because pieces are made to order, the bar schedule should be final before ordering.
